Company Profile: Louis Group

Company Profile: Louis Group

Founded in 1935 by the late Louis Loizou – affectionately nicknamed, ‘the father of Cyprus tourism’ – Louis Group (Louis) is, today, considered one of the leading European companies in the field of cruising, hotel construction and management, and travel-related services.

Once a small travel agency, Louis has grown into a multifaceted entity, catering to individuals and groups in their quest to discover the Mediterranean.

Louis’ vision has endured: to offer the highest quality of services to its clients and partners, and to maintain its leading position in the region. The company is aiming to strengthen and enhance its strategic agreements with international tour operators by offering services in the areas of cruising and hotels.

On December 31, 1998, Louis was incorporated in Nicosia as a private company – with the name Louis Cruise Lines Limited – with the objective of acquiring 100% of the equity of all the ship-owning, and other ship-related companies, of the Group.

Later, in August of 1999, the company was listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange by issuing 23,750,000 new shares to the public.

Today, Louis owns a total of 5 cruise ships (two of which cruise on behalf of Thomson Cruises, owned by TUI Travel), employs more than 2,300 people, and operates 2- and 3-day cruises from Cyprus, as well as 5 to 12 day land and sea tours of Greece and Turkey.

All ships are refurbished and upgraded continuously to maintain the highest standards of quality and service. The management of both the technical and the hotel operations of the ships are carried out in-house as the knowledge and experience of the company covers all facets of cruise ship management.

Meanwhile, Louis Hotels has over 65 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with Louis currently owning 99.6% of Louis Hotels.

Owning or operating 19 four- or five-star hotels in Cyprus and Greece (including the Hilton Park in Nicosia which is managed by Hilton Hotels Cooperation and the Mykonos Theoxenia, a deluxe boutique hotel in Mykonos Town), the total number of beds amounts to approximately 13,000.

The acquisition of The Cyprus Tourism Development Public Company Ltd in 2001, owner of the Hilton Cyprus Hotel in Nicosia, and the agreement signed in December 2002 with Hilton International for the management of Hilton Park Nicosia by Louis Hotels, strengthened considerably the company's city hotels, offering upgraded services and facilities for business meetings and conferences.

Travel services

Guided by its commitment to deliver on its promise of personal and professional service, Louis Tourist Agency offers an online booking system facilitating competitive rates and special offers for cruise tickets, hotel accommodation, transfers, leisure, car hire, and business trips in Cyprus and worldwide.

The advanced technology allows for real-time availability with immediate confirmation to all booking queries, and the expert service ensures each client’s wishes are fulfilled.

A one-stop shop, Louis is a member of the International Air Travel Association (IATA), the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA), and the World Association of Travel Agencies (WATA), amongst others.
