CySEC: 25 Years Committed To Market Surveillance, Supervision And Investor Protection

CySEC: 25 Years Committed To Market Surveillance, Supervision And Investor Protection

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) celebrates its 25th anniversary and on this occasion it will host an online conference on Wednesday, 14 July 2021. The conference will focus on the development of the sector in Cyprus, as well as the future of financial services in a time of great challenges and opportunities.

The upcoming conference entitled “CySEC 25 Years: The Past, Present and Future of Financial Development and Innovation”, will highlight the milestones that have marked the development of CySEC. From 1996 onwards, the Cyprus capital market has experienced significant growth and the number of new groups placed under its supervision, as well as supervised entities offering services in Cyprus, has multiplied. At the same time, the role and supervisory responsibilities of CySEC have been significantly expanded and upgraded to ensure investor protection in an ever-changing financial landscape.

Meanwhile, special emphasis will be placed on CySEC’s continuous efforts for improvement and modernisation, through the simplification and automation of its operations as well as through the use of specialized IT systems that contribute to strengthening the supervision of licensed entities and new legislative requirements.

The conference will host shareholders, Board Members, CEOs, CFOs, Managing Directors, Chairpersons and other senior management executives of all regulated entities in Cyprus, other stakeholders, as well as government officials and representatives of the European and National Competent Authorities of other jurisdictions, and various EU bodies.
