Health Minister: Situation In ICUs Manageable

The current situation with regard to the number of patients with COVID-19 being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) is manageable, Health Minister Michalis Hadjipandelas has told the Cyprus News Agency.

On Wednesday afternoon Hadjipandelas presided over a meeting also attended by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Christina Yiannakis, to examine the current situation in ICUs.

“The situation is manageable and every day we see whether we need to take any other action”, the Minister said. He added that COVID-19 patients are being transferred to ICUs in private clinics all the time. “Currently we have transferred to the private sector as many (patients) as we could”, he noted.

The Minister said that the number of patients being treated in regular wards keeps dropping. On Wednesday 223 patients were hospitalised in wards from 232 on Tuesday, and down by approximately 70 compared with the previous week.
