Belarus to Realise Investment Goals Through Cyprus Cooperation?

Belarus to Realise Investment Goals Through Cyprus Cooperation?

Belarus believes the potential for its further business cooperation with Cyprus to be unbound, according to the country’s Ambassador in Nicosia, Vladimir Voronkovich.

Following the presentation of his credentials to Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, Voronkovich expressed the opinion that the strengthening of bilateral relations in trade, economic and scientific interaction as well as cultural, regional and political contacts, would provide a plethora of mutual benefits for the states.

In addition, Belarus may realize its foreign investment targets through this close cooperation, by coordinating common investment projects.

“One of the themes of [bilateral] consultations might be the development of the relations between Belarus and the European Union, as well as the possibilities of participation of the Republic of Cyprus in this process”, Voronkovich commented.

Furthermore, Belarus, he informed the President, “is interested in delivering products of heavy, light and food industry, woodworking and chemical industry.”

On his part, Anastasiades briefed the new ambassador on recent developments as regards the Cypriot economy and the efforts to reunite the island.

“What we need now is the implementation of measures that will restore confidence, and not measures that increase mistrust among the legal citizens of the island, through actions that violate international law,” he said.

Referring to bilateral relations, the President expressed his eagerness to build upon the existing bilateral activity and explore new areas in which the countries’ bilateral cooperation can be both constructive and fruitful, such as agriculture, tourism and industry.
