Information Security & Data Privacy Conference Presented By BDO

Information Security & Data Privacy Conference Presented By BDO

Given the rapid increase in cyberattacks within the past few years, organizations are required to find ways to adapt and protect themselves and their clients. The COVID-19 pandemic and the sudden shift to a digital work environment has resulted in organizations lacking the proper security systems.

BDO is organizing the Information Security & Data Privacy Conference on Wednesday, 15 September 2021, 08:30-13:00 at the Hilton Nicosia, in order to help organizations navigate the complexities of this new reality, with distinguished speakers from Cyprus and abroad discussing security and privacy issues.

Amongst the featured speakers of the conference is Andreas Iacovou, Team Coordinator, Incident Management Supervisor at National CSIRT-CY, who will discuss the recent course of cybersecurity in Cyprus, the establishment of a competent authority, the actions taken to achieve a consistent acceptable level of cybersecurity for the CNI (Critical National Infrastructure) and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Cypriot cyberspace.

Furthermore, Constantinos Tsiourtos, Managing Director, C.T. KINEAS LLC, Public Policy & Legal Advisor, Cybersecurity, Privacy & AI Standardization Expert at C.T. KINEAS LLC & CEN CENELEC (European Standardization Organizations), will offer insight to the ongoing preparatory actions by the EDPB and National DPAs towards the materialization of GDPR certification schemes, what they would cover, when such schemes are scheduled to be available and how the European Standardization Organizations (CEN & CENELEC) are developing standards to support this process as well as the maturity of entities planning to pursue such a certification scheme.

In addition, Damon Greber, Director Advisory Services at BDO will introduce the ROBUS Information Governance Platform. When managing data privacy regulations, siloed and duplicated work is commonplace with multiple spreadsheets, conflicting versions and burdensome policy documents. ROBUS is an information governance platform that helps businesses deliver all aspects of data protection compliance. ROBUS drives accountability within organisations and fulfils GDPR obligations with impact assessments, automatic privacy notice generation, efficient breach reporting, subject request management and data inventory management. Reporting functionality provides oversight for management.

The conference will host Chief Data Officers, Chief Privacy Officers, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Managing Directors, Marketing and HR Directors and Other senior executives from businesses operating across different sectors of the economy.
