For the 5th consecutive year, Bank of Cyprus is organising the annual Business Leaders Summit. It is the biggest and most important gathering of business leaders in Cyprus, at which current issues of importance to entrepreneurship are examined in inspirational and engaging presentations and discussions. This year’s Summit, entitled ‘Sustainability’s New Frontier: Creating Value through ESG Engagement’, will take place on Tuesday 14 September at the Hilton Nicosia.
A long-term, sustainable approach to business, centred on strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, has become more important than ever. Recent years have shown that companies need to have sustainability and ESG strategies in place to address the challenges of net zero and circularity. Those that incorporate ESG aspects into their operations and strategy will ultimately be seen as more valuable than those that choose to ignore them.
The keynote address will be given by Anna Bjerde, Regional Vice President of Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank.
In a panel discussion, distinguished local business leaders will explain how they are developing responsible and sustainable policies, strategies, business models, operations, and investments and creating value for their corporations through ESG engagement.
The panelists are Andreas Neocleous (CEO, Cyta), Antonios Antoniou (Executive Chairman, Vassiliko Cement & Chair, Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation – OEB), Christianna Diogenous (CEO, Unicars), Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou (Co-CEO, Tototheo Maritime & Chair, Electricity Authority of Cyprus), Dinos Lefkaritis (CEO, Petrolina), Evgenios C. Evgeniou (CEO, PwC Cyprus) and Dr. Michalis Neoptolemou (CEO, Remedica)
The Summit Chairs are Michalis Athanasiou (Executive Director Global Corporate Banking and Markets, Bank of Cyprus) and Xenios Konomis (Director Corporate Banking, Bank of Cyprus). Panicos Nicolaou (CEO, Bank of Cyprus) will present the closing remarks.
