Education Minister And French Ambassador Discuss Culture And French Language

Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromou held a meeting Wednesday with Ambassador of France in Cyprus Salina Grenet-Catalan during which they discussed the possibility of signing a new bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in the fields of education and culture. 

According to an official press release, the French Ambassador expressed her support for Cyprus` intention to become a full member of the International Organization of the Francophonie and they discussed the prospects of cooperation in university education and research, emphasising on the encouragement of students to study in France and Cyprus.

In addition, they talked about the French language in Cyprus` education system and the further development of the French-Cypriot school (Ecole Franco - Chypriote) in Nicosia.

During their meeting, they exchanged views on the future establishment of a Deputy Ministry of Culture in Cyprus. The French Ambassador expressed her support and willingness to offer any technical assistance needed.
