John Sergides: MUFG Investor Services Expands Its Operations In Cyprus

John Sergides: MUFG Investor Services Expands Its Operations In Cyprus

John Sergides, CEO at MUFG Investor Services, speaking at the 6th International Funds Summit, explained the advantages and characteristics Cyprus has that can help the country become a financial centre in Europe. He emphasized that, due to Cyprus geographical location, the high quality of financial services it offers, the high educational levels, as well as its flexibility in adopting technological tools, the investment funds sector presents a unique opporunity.

Sergides pointed out that MUFG Investor Services gave a vote of confidence to Cyprus by bringing in more than 40 people, while he stressed that the goal is to further expand the presence of the company in Cyprus.

Specifically, Sergides noted that MUFG Investor Services, one of the five biggest players on the global scale, when looking to expand, takes into account the closeness of the jurisdiction in question with its clients, its ecosystem and human capital, the use of technology, the proliferation of the English language, as well as the legal system. Cyprus, he said, fulfils all these criteria, highlighting again that the country has now a unique opportunity to become a centre for the provision of financial services.
