EY Presents the 14th CFO Management Forum

EY Presents the 14th CFO Management Forum

On Tuesday, 26th June, 2018, the 14th CFO Management Forum took place at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia, Cyprus. The forum brought together the chief financial executives and other key players of all the major companies and corporations operating in Cyprus.

EY was once again the proud sponsor of this event that provided attendees with a platform to share expertise, build knowledge and network, as well as debate, discuss, and seek practical solutions to the industry’s challenges. Through the stellar line-up of local and international speakers who talked about these challenges and developments in the industry, the event aimed to shed some light on the ever-changing and always challenging role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Stelios Demetriou, EY Partner and chairman of the event, mentioned in his introductory speech:

“The role of the CFO is now more complex, high profile and diverse than ever. As a result, the experiences and skills necessary for a CFO have become more challenging to obtain. The disruptive forces in the market, including amongst others: digital data, stakeholder scrutiny, regulation, and last but not least, risk and uncertainty, have impacted the CFO role, expanding it from one focused strictly on controls, reporting and analysis to a more strategic role with a strong focus on the future.”

Representing EY as a keynote speaker, Tony Klimas, a Partner and a member of EY's Advisory Executive team based in the US, presented the topic ‘The CFO Agenda and the new normal’.  Tony is the Global Finance Practice Leader and has global responsibility for the Performance Improvement Finance Consulting Practice, which focuses on the needs of the CFO, Controller and other Finance executives.  He has over 20 years of consulting experience and is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of topics related to Finance and Accounting. Current focus areas include the impact of digital technology on Finance and Accounting, the finance organization and the changing role of CFO, and the transformative nature of emerging operating models and technologies. In his speech, Tony explained the DNA of the CFO and offered insights on how high performing CFOs may contribute towards the strategic goals of their organisation.

In addition to the Forum, the evening comprised also the 2nd CFO Awards ceremony that presented renowned people in the Cypriot world of finance with awards, in recognition of their contribution, achievements and professional excellence in the field of Financial Management.

The awarded individuals were:
