Chelco VAT to Hold VAT Forum in Limassol

Chelco VAT to Hold VAT Forum in Limassol

The current problems with the supply of goods within the EU and the proposed solutions through the new VAT Action Plan, VAT problems and solutions for the holding company and how Cyprus can make use of the EU Court of Justice are some of the issues that will be addressed at the very first-of-its-kind Limassol VAT Forum 2017, in June.

The Forum is organised by the island’s only VAT-dedicated indirect tax consulting firm, Chelco VAT Ltd, to celebrate the official launching of its operations and will be held at the Four Seasons in Limassol in the morning of Friday, 9 June 2017.

The Forum will be an invitation-only event, capped at 150 participants, and will be opened by the Minister of Finance, Harris Georgiades.

It will include three high-level panel discussions that will bring to the surface and analyse a number of VAT-related matters, which Cypriot professionals, businesses and policy-makers need to be aware of and examine.

The panels will be comprised of an array of prominent VAT professionals and academics from Cyprus and abroad. Those include Cyprus Tax Commissioner, Yiannis Tsangaris, Dr. Stefan Maunz, Partner with Küffner Maunz Langer Zugmaier in Germany, renowned lawyer and professor of VAT, Dr. Ben Terra from the Netherlands and Raymond Feen, Founder and Director of ALLVAT, also in the Netherlands. Also, Prof. Patrick Wille, Founder and President of the international partnership of indirect tax professionals, VAT Forum, Belgium and Kyriacos Scordis, Managing Partner of Scordis, Papapetrou and Co LLC.

Managing Director of Chelco VAT, Alexis Tsielepis, who will chair the event, said he was thoroughly excited to organise the very first VAT Forum in Cyprus.

“Chelco VAT has been fully active for a couple of years now. When the time came to hold our ceremonial launching, instead of clinking glasses in a hotel lounge, we opted to hold this unique event to reflect on the dedicated nature of our firm,” he said, adding:

“We could see no better way to commemorate our unique expertise, conclusive knowledge and high principles, than an exclusive VAT Forum in Cyprus of the highest level.”

Tsielepis said that invited to attend are some of Cyprus’ most prominent professionals in the legal, accounting and corporate services field, policy makers, Supreme Court judges, politicians, dignitaries and business leaders, who will gather under the same roof to examine along with the Forum’s star panelists VAT in depth.

“We will all listen, learn and discuss pertinent VAT matters that affect our country and our economy,” Tsielepis said, adding:

“From the introduction of VAT in Cyprus in 1992, such a Forum is already 25 years overdue! Yet, we have only scratched the surface of what we are able to do and deliver. We will work with even more zeal, energy and enthusiasm and continue to offer the highest quality of VAT advice in Cyprus.”

Sponsoring the event are Swiss EFG Private Bank with local offices in Nicosia and Limassol, leading law firm, Scordis, Papapetrou & Co LLC, Advocates & Legal Consultants, and S. Kaniklides (Cyprus) Ltd, Document Management Services experts.

Forum organiser, Chelco VAT Ltd, is based in Limassol and specialises in strategic VAT planning and consulting. It is also a leader in the organisation of high-level VAT seminars and workshops.
