FxPro Appoints Andreas Jacovides as Compliance Manager and MLRO

FxPro Appoints Andreas Jacovides as Compliance Manager and MLRO

FxPro has appointed Andreas Jacovides as Compliance Manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) who brings the firm the advantage of being able to understand the internal requirements of a regulator, especially as Europe’s EMIR and MiFID II directives are largely ambiguous.

Jacovides spent seven years at CySec as Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Officer, and brings his expertise from within the regulatory authority itself to FxPro.

Whilst an Officer at CySec, Jacovides was also responsible for the granting of licenses to Cyprus Investment Firms (CIFs) thus knows what the European directive on such matters entails, and what is required to maintain a license.

Prior to joining CySec, Jacovides was an Assistant Consultant at MAP S Platis, where he prepared applications for Cyprus Investment Firm authorization as well as performed internal audits for AML/CFT as part of MAP S Platis consultative venture for CIFs on compliance issues.

Andreas Jacovides completed his formal education in the United Kingdom, having graduated from Nottingham University Business School with a Master of Science degree in Computational Finance, Nottingham being a long standing custodian of the reputation among computer scientists as being one of Britain’s best educational establishments for software engineers and infrastructure architects.

Jacovides has also some experience as a trader, highlighting his experience in regulatory authorities as well as consultancy combined with a year’s worth of trading, as he began his career following his Master’s degree with a position at Nicosia-based proprietary trading firm STCM Trading, where he traded on Euronext LIFFE, Eurex and CME with listed derivative products traded including futures on German bonds, US Treasury notes, Euribor and Eurodollar.
