Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou Named One of the Most Influential People in Shipping

Leading international shipping publication Lloyd’s List has selected Tototheo Maritime CEO Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou as one of the top 100 most influential people in shipping.

The publication of the Lloyd’s List top 100 most influential people in shipping is one of the main highlights of the maritime year, with its insights into the personalities and trends in the industry.

Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou has entered this venerable list for the first time, and attained a further credit as one of Lloyd’s List’s top 5 next generation executive.

In listing the reasons for Panayiotou Theodosiou making the grade, Lloyd’s List describes her as a respected, quiet, consistent problem solver with a sharp mind and an ability to articulate issues. This they felt was significant alongside her recent appointment of the role as president of WISTA, the Women’s International Shipping and Trade Association.

She has already won a number of awards internationally and in the Cyprus business community, having been identified as one of the Women of the Decade in Innovation and Leadership Award of the Annual Women Economic Forum, New Delhi, 2017 and was included in the 10 Women to Watch in the shipping industry at the globally recognised maritime trade fair, NorShipping this year.

She assumed the role of WISTA International President in October this year. She has said that her objectives as WISTA president are to strengthen the organisation, making it more inclusive and to strengthen its diversity. She is also a committed advocate of initiatives to close the gender pay gap.

She is a member of the board of the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping taking up a role there in 2013.
