Council of Economic Advisers

Council of Economic Advisers

Tasked with the vital job of advising the President on matters of economic policy, the Council of Economic Advisers of Cyprus – one might say – holds the key to unlocking sustainable future economic growth.

As described by Sir Christopher Pissarides, Chairman of the Council, in a recent interview with Gold: “The ministries…are concerned with day-to-day operation – now that there is a Memorandum, they are concerned about how to make sure that the various provisions are applied and the economy starts growing again, whereas we identify problems that are more long-term and ongoing for which ministers may not have time to discuss and deal with.”

Despite this prominent position and advisory capacity embodied by the Council, the entity itself remains very much elusive: who, for example, comprises the Council?

In answer to this, Gold News has, accordingly, compiled a list of the members of the Council who are working in the shadows to ensure that the island, once more, steps into the light of economic vitality.
