Huawei to Continue Supporting ICT Development in Cyprus

Huawei to Continue Supporting ICT Development in Cyprus

Huawei, the Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, will continue to support ICT development in Cyprus, its Senior Vice-President Guo Tianming has remarked.

Following a recent meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades, in the context of his official working visit to China, Tianming revealed that the company will “keep introducing the latest ICT technologies and experience to Cyprus as we seek to become the preferred ICT partner for the Cypriot government and help you with national ICT planning.”

Since entering the Cypriot market in 2009, Huawei has become a strategic partner of the country’s three major telecommunication carriers – CYTA, MTN, and Primetel. Huawei also works closely with the government, public sector, industry, and channel partners.

“I very much appreciate Huawei’s important contributions to communications network construction in Cyprus,” President Anastasiades affirmed. “I’m also happy to see the ongoing cooperation between the quasi-government agency Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) and Huawei. The massive R&D spending by Huawei is very impressive, so is the 10,000-strong workforce at the Shanghai Research Center. We need to learn from you, especially regarding advanced scientific research and knowledge. In the meantime, I hope Huawei can provide constructive opinions about Cyprus’ national ICT planning and forge deeper ties with our nation.”
