EY Cyprus Was A Gold Sponsor At The 4th Annual Capital Link Cyprus Shipping Forum

EY Cyprus Was A Gold Sponsor At The 4th Annual Capital Link Cyprus Shipping Forum

EY Cyprus for yet another year, was a gold sponsor of the 4th Annual Capital Link Cyprus Shipping Forum, which was held at the Columbia Plaza, in Limassol, on Tuesday, February 25th 2020. Charalambos Moyseos, Director and Head of Technology Advisory Services of EY Cyprus, presented the topic of “Information Management: A Governance Framework Enabling Data-Driven Management Decisions”.

The event was organised by Capital Link, under the Auspices of the Deputy Minister of Shipping, and with the leading sponsorship and cooperation of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, the support of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the Cyprus Shipping Association, and several other industry associations and organisations.

The Forum featured international and local industry leaders who discussed the latest geopolitical, regulatory, industry and financial trends and developments, while also providing an update on critical industry topics such as compliance with low sulfur and decarbonization regulations, the impact of technology and access to capital, the outlook of the various shipping sectors, shipmanagment and more. It also highlighted the role and significance of Cyprus as a maritime and logistical hub.

The event brought together high caliber international speakers and delegates, including ship owners, ship managers and offshore executives, institutional investors,  industry experts, commercial and investment bankers, risk advisors, private equity and venture capital firms, regulators, insurers, ship brokers and traders, as well as major local industry leaders.

Commenting on the event, Charalambos Moyseos, Director and Head of Technology Advisory Services of EY Cyprus, commented: “While ‘Digital Transformation’ and ‘Big Data Analytics’ are the buzz words of any technology discussion nowadays, it seems that ’Information Management’ and ’Data Quality’ are well ignored by technology gurus. Our research shows that 50%-90% of the cost for analytics projects is spent in data cleansing. Do we need to say more? Unless data is transformed into information that can be effectively used by the organisation for management decisions, it will always remain as a burden. ”
