Air Canada Turns to Amadeus Technology to Power its New Online Global Shopping and Booking Experience

Air Canada Turns to Amadeus Technology to Power its New Online Global Shopping and Booking Experience

Simple, better, quicker, accurate: these are the hallmarks of the best online shopping experiences for travellers when it comes to booking a flight.  And now customers of Air Canada have all of these features in a new and improved booking experience, powered by leading digital solutions from global travel technology company, Amadeus.

Air Canada, the largest provider in the Canadian market, recently unveiled the all-new aircanada.com featuring a new, responsive design, improved booking flow and enhanced search options for travellers. Amadeus’ technology will support the airline’s strategy of continued innovation and enhancement of its online retail channel.

“Our vision was to give Air Canada customers the best online shopping experience possible while also advancing our future-focus on continued global expansion. Amadeus’ technology and expertise brought that vision to reality. Working in close partnership with Amadeus, this latest initiative gives us the technology foundation to deliver a best-in-class digital experience and will allow us to continue to grow and serve more travelers worldwide,” said Lise Fournel, Chief Information Officer, Air Canada.

Air Canada’s completely re-engineered website offers simple and intuitive search and shopping. Benefits include:

•    Simplified booking flow with fewer steps, including advanced seat selection
•    More and better search options, including multi-airport search capability
•    Responsive design which delivers mobile- and touch-screen-friendly use across any device, whether smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop
•    Enhanced site navigation and a choice of seven languages and 25 worldwide editions

Via aircanada.com, consumers can quickly find the flights, fares and services that best meet their needs, while opening up new selling opportunities for the airline.  Future website enhancements include additional languages and editions, new mobile features and search functionality based on attributes beyond just date and destination.

“Amadeus is enabling Air Canada to deliver on its strategy through a range of digital solutions. We are excited to enable this evolution of a personalised, engaging shopping experience for its customers. Our partnership with Air Canada is a testament to the value and services we are committed to delivering to airlines around the world,” said Ilia Kostov, Chief Commercial Officer, Airline IT, Amadeus North America.

Among the Amadeus technology solutions is the Amadeus e-Retail platform, the world's most widely-used airline Internet booking engine offering a best-in-class user interface and customer experience. The online airline booking system is a fully customisable solution utilizing the most advanced technology available. Amadeus e-Retail powers more than 260 websites for over 100 airlines in more than 110 countries around the world.

Air Canada is Canada's largest domestic and international airline serving more than 200 airports on six continents.  Canada's flag carrier is among the 20 largest airlines in the world and in 2016 served more than 45 million customers.
