Tajani: We Do Not Intend to Forget the Issue of Terrorism

European Parliament President , Antonio Tajani, assured on Monday 11 February that “we do not intend to forget the issue of terrorism”.

Tajani was speaking at the beginning of the EP plenary session which kicked off in Strasbourg, in the presence of members of the families of the two journalists who lost their lives due to the terrorist attack in Strasbourg last December, Italian Antonio Megalizzi and Polish Bartosz Orent-Niedzielski.

Earlier Tajani inaugurated the European Parliament’s radio studio in honour of the two journalists.

Speaking during the EP plenary and referring to last December’s terrorist attack, Tajani said that 60 days have passed since this appalling act, and sent out the message that “we do not intend to forget the issue of terrorism.” Moreover, he stressed the need to defend the rights of all journalists to cover the events and reveal the truth.

He also said that the Parliament is monitoring the situation in Venezuela where foreign journalists have been imprisoned, adding that “we want them to be released.”
