Luxembourg`s Ambassador in Cyprus Paul Steinmetz, who is based in Athens, expressed during a meeting on Wednesday with the House of Representatives President Demetris Syllouris a wish for small European countries, including his own, to make the most of the cooperation network Cyprus has developed with countries in the Middle East, the CNA reported.
Syllouris briefed Steinmetz on the Conference of Parliaments` Presidents of the Small States of Europe, which is set to be hosted in Cyprus, a House of Representatives press release says.
Among other things, views were exchanged on the best possible ways of cooperation between small states at the European and regional level, and the need for small states to have a strong presence within this context.
During the meeting the two men conveyed their will to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, specifically in the areas of services, education, research and technology.
An exchange of views on the prospects for a solution of the Cyprus problem also took place, ahead of the trilateral meeting in Berlin between Cyprus President Nicos Anasasiades, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, the press release concludes.
