Syllouris Discusses Future of EU and Cyprus Issue with Belgian MPs

The future of Europe and Cyprus’ vision for European integration as well as the Cyprus issue were discussed during a meeting on Monday between President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris and a delegation of the Belgium-Cyprus Friendship Group in the Belgian Parliament.

According to a press release, the delegation comprises President Luk Van Biesen and two members, namely Senator Pol Van den Driessche and MP Stéphane Crusnière, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

Syllouris referred to the debate on the future of Europe and Cyprus’ vision for European integration, as well as the post-Brexit era, noting that Europe must further strengthen its democratic legitimacy.

Furthermore, Syllouris briefed the delegation on the continuous violations of international law by Turkey against Cyprus, especially recently in the Republic of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone, and called on the European partners to support Cyprus against Turkish threats.

Syllouris also referred to developments in the Cyprus issue, and the economic situation.
