Savvas Angelides: Cyprus Continues Its Cooperation with France and Italy

Savvas Angelides: Cyprus Continues Its Cooperation with France and Italy

The Republic of Cyprus continues its cooperation with countries, such as France and Italy, Defence Minister, Savvas Angelides, said on Wednesday. Speaking in Larnaca, he also noted that the presence of warships from various countries in Cypriot ports enhances this partnership, the CNA reports.

The Minister was called to comment on the presence of an Italian frigate in Larnaca port and the maritime exercise of Cyprus, France and Italy, scheduled to take place on Thursday. This is the result of our close cooperation with countries, such as France and Italy, in addition to the frequent exercises we hold with our neighbouring countries, Angelides said.

He noted that tomorrow’s maritime exercise will provide an opportunity to evaluate the operational capability of the navies involved, while sending a message regarding the unrestricted exercise of Cyprus’ sovereign rights, and of the rights of the companies licensed in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Minister did not reveal any further details regarding the naval drill.
