Nikos Christodoulides Says Cairo Meeting Is Very Important

Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides said Wednesday’s meeting in Cairo on the issue of Libya, with the participation of the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, France and Italy, was exceptionally important, noting that the main aim was to create conditions of security and cooperation in the Middle East, without exclusions, the CNA reported.
“I consider the meeting important because through the discussions with the Foreign Ministers of the other states participating, it was clear that the main aim is how to create conditions of security and cooperation in the region of the Middle East, on the basis of a positive approach and without any exclusions,” Christodoulides said after the meeting.
He added that “it is in this context that there is a clear position on the Turkish violations in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Cyprus, since such actions, either in the EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus or in Syria, or with what is happening in Libya, only lead to destabilisation in the region, which at the end of the day does not benefit any of the states in the region.”
