Kasoulides: Increased Action Against ISIS is Essential

Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides stated on November 14 that around ten people in the past year were deported from the island on suspicion of being connected to ISIS.

The Foreign Minister said: “Security measures along the ceasefire line have increased. In the past year, ten people in possession of European passports were arrested and deported for attempting to use Cyprus as an illegal gateway into Syria”.

Kasoulides said in response to the attacks: “We express our full sympathy and solidarity to the French Government”.

According to In Cyprus, he also added that the recent victims of ISIS attacks in France, the ISIS bombing in Beirut and the Russian victims of the plane crash in Egypt are “victims of freedom” and that “increased action against ISIS from the EU and other states is required”.

“The fight against terrorism is not a matter of France, nor of Russia and Lebanon, it is a matter that concerns all of us,” the Foreign Minister added.

He concluded that Europe has not failed in the fight against terrorism and that “we should not be scared of the terrorists”.
