Anastasiadou Attends Meeting of Arab-EU Parliament Chiefs in Beirut

Anastasiadou Attends Meeting of Arab-EU Parliament Chiefs in Beirut

Cyprus House Secretary General Vassiliki Anastasiadou participated in the first Meeting of the Secretaries of the Arab-European Parliaments in Beirut, with the participation of 11 countries.

A press release issued by the Cyprus House on Monday 18 December said that in her speech, Anastasiadou referred to the steps taken by the Parliament to improve the quality of the legislative work.

The Conference focused on ways to improve and strengthen the parliamentary running and to exchange know-how and best practices.

Anastasiadou pointed out that the political system in Cyprus provides for a clear distinction of powers and thus the House of Representatives is a politically independent body.

She also referred to the steps taken by the House of Representatives, aiming at developing better methods of communication with the civil society, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
