Anastasiades Receives Award By Slovenian President

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades was presented on Wednesday 9 January with an award by the Slovenian President Borut Pahor, during his official visit to the country. According to an announcement, the President, accompanied by his wife Andri and the members of the Cyprus delegation, arrived in the morning at Constitution Square in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, where he was welcomed by the President of the country. A military guard was presenting honors.
 
The performance of the National Anthems of the two countries followed, and then President Anastasiades laid a wreath at the Monument to the Victims of All wars.
 
The two Presidents then proceeded to the Presidential Palace where a ceremony for the conferring of a decoration to President Anastasiades by the President of Slovenia and to President Pahor by the President of the Republic took place. Speaking during the ceremony the President said that the Order of Makarios III, presented to the Slovenian President, is the highest order of merit awarded by Cyprus to Presidents or Prime Ministers of foreign countries in order to honor the excellent bilateral relations.

He pledged that Cyprus will continue to work for the enhancement of bilateral ties for the benefit of the two countries and their people adding that this will contribute to the European integration.

President Pahor said that the award is given to Cyprus President for his contribution in the friendly relations between the two countries and their cooperation for the common European future.
 
The two Presidents held a private meeting, which was followed by talks between the delegations of the two countries.
 
Later on, in the presence of the two Presidents, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Political Consultations.

President Anastasiades is accompanied by his wife, Andri and the members of the Cypriot delegation, comprising Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou and Undersecretary to the President Vasilis Palmas.
