Trade Deficit Increases in 2017

According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus’ new monthly electronic publication “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics for June 2017”, the trade deficit was €2.361,9 mn in January-June 2017 compared to €2.097,9 mn in the corresponding period of 2016.

The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were:

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) in January-June 2017 amounted to €3.681,0 mn as compared to €3.552,3 mn in January-June 2016.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States) in January- June 2017 were €1.319,0 mn compared to €1.454,4 mn in January-June 2016.

During June 2017 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) valued at €542,5 mn as compared to €693,4 mn in June 2016. 

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in June 2017 amounted to €283,1 mn as compared to €255,8 mn in June 2016. Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were €97,8 mn as compared to €67,4 mn in June 2016 whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were €185,3 mn as compared to €188,5 mn in June 2016.

Total domestic exports of industrial products in June 2017 were €85,7 mn compared to €57,4 mn in June 2016. Total domestic exports of agricultural products in June 2017 were €10,4 mn compared to €8,2 mn in June 2016.
