Recent International Developments for Direct Taxation

IMH is presenting the 2nd Cyprus International Tax & Professional Services Conference on Wednesday, 6 February 2019 at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia, Cyprus.

This year’s Conference will address the most recent trends and developments in taxation across Europe and the globe. Well established professionals from sector, both from the local market and abroad, will share their knowledge and view on recent tax developments and various topics of concern to international tax professionals.

One of this year’s speakers is Ms Stavroula Vrasida, the Head of the Advanced Tax Rulings Unit (Direct Taxation), at the Tax Department of the Ministry of Finance in Cyprus. Ms Vrasida will discuss the recent international developments in direct taxation and the impact on the Cyprus legal and regulatory framework. She will go over pending proposals for further amendments to the legal and regulatory provisions relevant to the endorsement of the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive (ATAD) and more specifically the Interest Limitation rule, the Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) rule, the General Anti-Abuse Rule (GAAR), the Exit Taxation rule and the rule on Hybrid Mismatches. Ms Vrasida will also discuss the scope of the application of Transfer Pricing provisions, including the introduction of the concept of Advanced Pricing Agreements (APAs) and Transfer Pricing Documentation Regulations.
