Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices increases by 0.1% in July

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices increases by 0.1% in July

In July 2019, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices increased by 0.1% compared to the index of July 2018, while when compared to the index of June 2019 the HICP decreased by 0.4%, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

According to the Statistical Service, for the period January-July 2019, the HICP recorded an increase of 0.8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Compared to July 2018, the largest change was noted in category Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels with a change of 4.7%.

Compared to June 2019, the largest change was recorded in category Clothing and Footwear (-16.3%).

For the period January-July 2019, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest change was noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (7%).

As regards the economic origin, the largest change when comparing to the index of July 2018 was observed in category Energy (-2.4%), whereas compared to the index of the previous month the largest change was noted in category Non-Energy Industrial (-4.7%).
