Government Labour Force Increases in April

Government Labour Force Increases in April

In April 2019 the government labour force increased by 215 persons (0.4%) in comparison to the corresponding month of 2018 and reached 52,311 persons. Permanent staff decreased by 587 persons (-1/6%). Casual staff increased by 4/9% and reached 17,306 persons compared to 16,504 persons in April 2018.

Compared to April 2018 there is an increase of staff in both the Civil Service and in Education. The largest increase is observed in Education (1.6%) and more specifically in the number of casual staff which increased by 11.4% (394 persons).

Compared to March 2019 the number of persons of all categories increased except in Education where the number of persons decreased by 0.4%. The highest increase is observed in Security Forces (2.0%) which is mainly due to casual staff increase (4.8%).
