Government Labour Force Increases by 1.6%

Government Labour Force Increases by 1.6%

In September 2018 the government labour force increased by 785 persons (1.6%) compared to 2017. The casual staff increased by 10.1% and reached 16,109 persons compared to 14,626 persons in September 2017. Permanent staff decreased by 698 persons (-1.9%), according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

Compared to September 2017 there is an increase in all the categories of government labour force except the Hourly Paid Workers. The largest increase is observed in category Security Forces (5.6%) in which the casual staff is increased by 17.4% (820 persons).

Compared to August 2018, there is a decrease in all the categories except Civil Service that increased by 0.2% (40 persons). Education decreased by -0.5% (-60 persons), Security Forces decreased by – 0.4% (-47 persons) and Hourly Paid Workers by -0.5% (-46 persons).
