 Arrivals Significantly Drop in June, Compared To Last Year

Following data released by Cystat, the arrivals of travellers in June 2020 reached 21.939 compared to 661.970 in June 2019, recording a decrease of 96,7%. The decrease is mainly attributed to the decrease in the arrivals of tourists (98,2%) as well as to the return of residents of Cyprus (91,5%).

 

Concerning the departures of travellers, a decrease of 97,0% was recorded in June 2020 as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
 


During the period of January-June 2020, arrivals of travellers totalled 602.953 compared to 2.452.481 in the corresponding period of 2019, recording a decrease of 75,4%. Concerning the departures of travellers during the specific period, a decrease of 74,6% was also recorded.



The Statistical Service also notes that for the period 15/3-8/6/2020, an entry ban in the Republic of Cyprus, was imposed on several categories of persons, including tourists, as part of the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
