Windsor Brokers: More Innovation in 2014

Windsor Brokers: More Innovation in 2014

Having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, leading investment firm Windsor Brokers Ltd. has long been an excellent example of professionalism and growth within the financial services sector.

It was the first CIF company to be licensed and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. Now, as one of the first major Cyprus companies to comply with new international transparency regulations, the firm continues to lead by example.

Gold News spoke with Johny Abuaitah, CEO of Windsor Brokers Ltd. to discover more about the pioneering firm.

What services does Windsor Brokers Ltd. offer?

Windsor Brokers Ltd. is a leading provider of financial services to retail and corporate clients.  Our business is centred on providing trading of financial derivatives including Forex, CFDs and Futures OTC via online platforms.

We also offer several partnership programmes such as Business Introducing, White Label, Web Affiliate, Liquidity Provider and Sponsorships enabling individuals and corporations to expand their product range, diversify their strategies and increase their business.

What are the main strengths of the firm?

The main strengths of our firm are based on our experience, security and professionalism. We have 25 years of experience in the market and are known to be conservative, for implementing and adhering to strict risk management policies and for applying structured internal procedures as these play crucial roles in our line of business. These have enabled us to grow and conduct our operations efficiently and successfully over the years.

With regard to regulation, we were the first Cypriot Investment Firm to be licensed and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. Furthermore, we are EEA authorised by the FCA (UK) and registered with the AMF (France) and BaFin (Germany) and we are in compliance with the MiFID directive and the new EMIR regulation.

Clients’ funds are held in segregated accounts in several first class banks worldwide and we were also ranked as one of the top 10 CIFs based on capital reserves as our capital adequacy ratio is one of the highest in the FX industry in Cyprus and abroad.

Last but not least, we have a dedicated and proficient team. This year we presented awards to employees who have been working with us for over 10 years as a sign of appreciation for their loyalty.

How many professionals comprise the Windsor workforce?

Windsor employs over 120 qualified employees with a total of 20 nationalities across our headquarters in Cyprus and business units aboard.  This is also why we are able to offer customer support in over 13 languages.

The firm recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with much pride. Tell us a little about the history of Windsor Brokers.

Well, our story began in 1988. At the time, the Central Bank of Cyprus was responsible for the supervision of the financial services industry. We cooperated with a prominent legal office and once we had received our licence, we began operations. Our clients at the time were mainly from the MENA region. When supervision shifted from the Central Bank of Cyprus to CySEC, we were the first broker to receive a license as a regulated Cypriot investment Firm (CIF).

In 2003 we were the pioneers in offering the first version of one of the most renowned online trading platforms and actually paved the way for the financial services industry in Cyprus.

In 2007 we moved to our own premises, the Windsor Business Center. The building was designed in such a way so as to ensure organised expansion and high-volume trading without compromising quality. It is fully equipped with high-tech surveillance systems and top-notch technologies to provide employees with a professional working environment and clients with efficient service.

This move provided a big boost to our activities and allowed us to develop as well as to expand our products and services in an innovative way. Today, we offer our services from our base in Cyprus to clients from over 80 countries worldwide.

In 2013 one of our milestones was being part of the building process and the actual development of the GWAZY trading method and platform and for being the first broker to introduce it to the retail FX industry.

2013 proved to be a challenging year for many in the financial services sector. What improvements does the firm hope to see in 2014? How will Windsor Brokers work to achieve these targets?

2013 was actually a very important and successful year for us as it marked a year of many achievements and we had higher returns than in 2012, despite global economic challenges.

For 2014, we hope to see more progress and expansion on all levels and more innovation.

We are expecting law reinforcements both on a national and European level. Currently we are focusing on the reporting obligations required by the new EMIR regulation as it requires a full setup and a team of experts.

Another advantage is that we have our own in-house software development team, so with regard to programming innovations, we are a step ahead.

As for targets, we try to achieve them by setting them wisely in the first place.  Once they have been established, we set up the necessary internal procedures, assign project leaders and let each team work their magic until the final implementation and follow-up stages.
