The Recipe to Combat Business Fraud

The Recipe to Combat Business Fraud
IMH in cooperation with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners - Cyprus Chapter are organizing The Cyprus Anti-Fraud Conference on Wednesday, 14 March 2018 at Hilton Park Hotel, in Nicosia. The aim of the conference is to help contribute to a healthier business ecosystem by improving trust, transparency and accountability by creating a common knowledge base and promoting the development of a culture of cooperation and communication.

The rapid and continued growth of all things digital has allowed unscrupulous players to increasingly take advantage of unknowing citizens and profit from fraudulent activities, which only serves to dilute trust and harm the health of our recovering economy. Although Cyprus has seen major improvement in the field of anti-fraud over the last few years, there is still much room for improvement.

The conference will see international speakers discuss the latest developments in the field, share their views on modern fraud avoidance techniques and present recent case studies of successful anti-fraud practices. Among the distinguish speakers will be Despina Andreadou, the Group Chief Audit Executive of Eurobank Ergasias S.A., a European banking organization, offering universal banking across seven countries. Despina is leading the Internal Audit Group General Division of nearly 140 professionals across Eurobank group, including Greek and foreign subsidiaries. Previously, she served for eight years in the Audit and Business Advisory Services division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Greece. Prior to joining PwC, Despina qualified in the Audit department of Ernst & Young in Manchester, UK. In her presentation, Despina will go through a real example case study when some years ago the bank embarked on a journey to bring the fraud levels down.
