The first aircraft of the newly established Cypriot airline Orion Airways is due to arrive in Cyprus In mid-January, while the goal remains to obtain a fleet of five Boeing 737- 800 aircrafts of, by the end of 2017.

ORION Airways is a brand new Cypriot airline, established in 2015 and based in Larnaca. ORION Airways takes its name from the ancient constellation "Orion" as noted by Ptolemy which is also one of the official constellations. In fact, the company logo itself is based on the infamous "Orion's Belt" or “The Belt of Orion”, which consists of three big stars in the Orion constellation.

The company chose this name both as a tribute to the Ancient Greek history and mythology and as a symbolization of the ultimate travelling experience ORION Airways promises to offer, reaching and exceeding the “stars”. Its slogan  “Over and Beyond the Horizon” refers to the “beyond-expectations-service” passengers will get to enjoy when flying ORION Airways.
