GOLD Magazine: Millennial Entrepreneurs

GOLD Magazine: Millennial Entrepreneurs

Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) are, by far, the majority of companies all over the world and Cyprus is certain no exception, with perhaps 99% of those SMEs being family businesses. In many cases, their founders/CEOs and major shareholders are now in their sixties and older, so succession is a crucial issue as 2nd and even 3rd generation family members are called upon to take over the reins of so many business organisations. These are the young business people known as Millennial Entrepreneurs.

Much is said these days about millennials and how their values and principles are different from those of previous generations but it would appear that many still choose to enter the family business with a great willingness and enthusiasm, not only to live up to their predecessors’ achievements but to make their own mark and bring their enterprises into the 21st century.

The cover story of the latest issue of GOLD (out on Sunday, 21 October) profiles more than 40 millennial entrepreneurs and presents the ideas and opinions of a quarter of them on what it’s like to work with a parent or relative, how working in the family business compares to how they imagined it would be, and what they think of entrepreneurship and business in Cyprus.

Also in this issue, there are major interviews with the outgoing US Ambassador Kathleen Doherty and the newly appointed Chairman of Hellenic Bank, Youssef A. Nasr as well as conversations with film producer Paul Iacovou, Blockchain advocate Alexis Nicolaou and the Nobel Prize winning economist, Sir Christopher Pissarides.

Don’t miss the new issue of GOLD, available on Sunday, October 21 in both print and digital versions.
