Four new Partners at Harris Kyriakides LLC

Harris Kyriakides LLC announces four new partners in the company. As of the 1st of September 2019 the new partners are Andreas Anagnostou, Myria Loizou, Georgia Karamalli and Nicolas Kyriakides.

Andreas Anagnostou specialises in banking and finance cases and mainly deals with dispute resolution procedures and court cases in banking and finance matters. He has handled a significant number of compicated  economic disputes and transactions, involving national and international procedures for debt recovery and for the execution of court decisions. He has substantial litigation experience in cases relevant to the abovementioned matters, and has successfully represented banks and other financial institutions and organisations before the Cyprus courts.  His areas of expertise include litigation, arbitration, international trusts, international and domestic debt collection proceedings, corporate liquidations, bankruptcies and restructurings. He is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a postgraduate degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary, University of London.  

Myria Loizou specialises in corporate law and dispute resolution matters. She has extensive court experience in representing companies and individuals in cases involving complicated corporate disputes, often with international ramifications, appearing before civil and arbitration courts. Her expertise also includes cases  regarding the issuance of interim orders for the freezing of assets locally and internationally, orders of disclosure, search orders, gagging orders and other relevant procedures, either in the context of national procedures or in aid of foreign procedures. Moreover, she advises on matters relating to shareholder disputes, derivative actions, corporate liquidations, as well as debt recovery in civil and commercial matters. She has also dealt with various cases related to the international protection of trademarks through the WIPO’s Madrid system, and has experience in matters relating to Anti-Money Laundering Laws and Regulations. She is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a postgraduate degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Southampton.  

Georgia Karamalli specialises in the banking and finance sector. She has substantial litigation experience and regularly represents banks and other financial institutions before the Cyprus courts. Her main areas of expertise are litigation, arbitration, extra-judicial matters, domestic and international debt collection, loan recoveries, and liquidation proceedings. She also maintains experience in enforcement proceedings in Cyprus, both in relation to local and foreign judgments and arbitral awards. She regularly acts as a panellist at conferences and international seminars regarding loan recoveries and liquidation procedures, sharing her expertise on banking matters such as non-performing loans from a Cyprus law perspective. She is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Nicolas Kyriakides is in charge of the superivision of the Banking and Finance Department as well as the Insurance and Personal Injury Department of the firm and he is also a member of the Board of Directors. He mainly deals with cases on medical negligence, employers’ and drivers’ negligence, and professional negligence on both the plaintiff’s and the defendant’s side. He additionally consults insurance companies in matters of compliance regarding national and European insurance legislation and regulations. He is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holds postgraduate degrees from UCL and NYU and a PhD from the University of Oxford. He teaches Civil Procedure at the University of Nicosia and has numerous publications in international legal journals. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Arbitration Forum, the Board of Directors of the University of Oxford Society Cyprus, and a Fellow of the European Law Institute (ELI). He is also a founding member of the non-profit organisation Oxygono.
