Blockchain Governance and the Risk of Collusion

Blockchain Governance and the Risk of Collusion

The Institute for the Future at the University of Nicosia is presenting the Cyprus Blockchain Summit on Wednesday, 10 July 2019 at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia.

IMH is organising the Cyprus Blockchain Summit to help inform businesses of the latest trends and developments in Blockchain, and how this new disruptive technology can assist them. Experienced speakers and opinion leaders will examine the opportunities and threats of this emerging technology. They will analyse how Blockchain is challenging – some might even say redefining – the status quo, and provide attendees with a foresight on what to expect in the future.

The Founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Blockchain Technologies at the University College London (UCL), Dr Paolo Tasca, is among the speakers. Dr Tasca is a Digital Economist specialising in P2P financial systems. He has been an advisor on Blockchain technologies for international organisations such as the European Parliament and United Nations. Previously, he was Lead Economist on digital currencies and P2P financial systems at the Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt. Paolo is the co-author of the bestseller “FINTECH Book”, co-editor of the book “Banking Beyond Banks and Money”, Associate Editor of the Journal of Risk Finance since 2016, and Guest Editor of the Journal of Digital Banking since 2017. He is also the author of various scientific papers on Blockchain published by prestigious international scientific journals. In his presentation, Dr Tasca will discuss how Blockchain can offer a new and innovative way to coordinate human economic, social and political activity. With this in mind, he will explain the need for a robust governance about the protocols and consensus mechanisms of Blokcchain systems to help minimise the risks of market power distortion and collusion.

The Summit will be conducted in English. For more information regarding the event, please click here
