Bank of Cyprus Receives Acclamation for Its Corporate Social Responsibility

Bank of Cyprus Receives Acclamation for Its Corporate Social Responsibility

During the 'Cyprus Responsible Business Awards 2019' ceremony, held on 10 October 2019 at the Presidential Palace, Bank of Cyprus received six awards for its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The awards were under the auspices of the Republic of Cyprus and the Directorate General for European Programmes, Coordination and Development.

The Bank received the following awards:

In the category 'Cause Advocacy': Platinum Award for its 'Fight Against Cancer' initiative, and Silver Award for IDEA Innovation Center.

In the category 'Excellence in Partnership': Gold Award for IDEA, and Silver Award for the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre.

In the category 'Investment Model': Silver Award for the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.

In the category 'Employees': Bronze Award for the Bank of Cyprus Volunteers.

Note that for most categories the committee did not award a Gold Award.

In a message to staff on the occasion of the awards, Bank of Cyprus CEO Panicos Nicolaou noted: " Once more, our organisation is being recognized and awarded for our mindset as an organisation with a sense of responsibility towards the society in which we operate for the past 120 years and to which we give back to the maximum possible level."

Mr Nicolaou added: "Our Corporate Social Responsibility is not an advertising tool, not something that is relevant only to a few of us. Above all else, our success is based on the participation of every single one of us, on our volunteer work and the initiatives of our staff."

Bank of Cyprus welcomes the 'Cyprus Responsible Business Awards 2019', an institution which recognizes, rewards and showcases projects, ideas and partnerships that are based on the principles of sustainability, corporate responsibility and social development.

Ever since it was founded, the Bank has been investing in Corporate Responsibility initiatives, which for us are an integral part of our DNA.

Our Bank is committed to remaining an active and proactive part of society, an organisation that values people and society as well as all those in need.
