8th Nicosia Economic Congress: Panel discussions Featuring Ambassadors, Ministers, Media and Labour Experts

Alpha Bank Cyprus Ltd is presenting the 8th Nicosia Economic Congress on 17 April 2018 at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia. The Congress is organised by Gold magazine and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and will look into the future of the Cyprus economy and labour market in light of the newly elected Council of Ministers and the re-elected President.

This year’s Congress will host a foreign media debate with renowned correspondents from international media agencies who will discuss the prospects of the Cyprus economy. The Foreign Media Discussion Panel will feature Helena Smith, correspondent with The Guardian in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus; James Kanter, freelance EU correspondent; Paul Tugwell, Bloomberg correspondent for Greece & Cyprus; and Tony Barber, Europe Editor for the Financial Times. The panel will revolve around past and future economic growth of Cyprus. More specifically, it will look into topics such as the opportunities and challenges stemming from the newly found gas in the region, Cyprus’ position in international business as well as the country’s place in the EU economy.

In addition to the aforementioned speakers, the Congress will host an Ambassadors’ debate, which will consist of the Ambassadors from various International financial centres. More specifically the panel will feature the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Matthew Kidd; the French Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, René Troccaz; the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Cyprus, Shmuel Revel and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus, Stanislav Viliorovich Osadchiy.

Moreover, some of this year’s distinguished speakers, amongst others, will be the Minister of Finance, Harris Georgiades; the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Vassiliki Anastassiadou; and the Deputy Minister of Shipping, Natasa Pilides who will analyze the current economic climate in Cyprus. Lastly, the event will host a Labour Market Panel discussion with key figures from Cyprus labour industry.
