2nd Cyprus Anti-Fraud Conference: Cash Seizures, Asset Confiscation and Unexplained Wealth Orders

2nd Cyprus Anti-Fraud Conference: Cash Seizures, Asset Confiscation and Unexplained Wealth Orders

IMH and the Cyprus Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), are organizing the 2nd Cyprus Anti-Fraud Conference on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Hilton Park Hotel, in Nicosia. The event aims to contribute to a healthier business ecosystem by promoting cooperation, communication and collaboration. The Conference will host a stellar lineup of international speakers who will present the latest developments in the industry. They will also share their insights and knowledge of modern fraud avoidance techniques and present recent case studies of successful anti-fraud practices, as a means to improve trust, transparency and accountability in the wider spectrum of the services industry.

Among the distinguished speakers will be George Kampanella, Solicitor, Partner at Bivonas Law LLP in the UK and an expert in dealing with highly complex confiscation, cash seizures and restraint order proceedings. Noted for his advocacy skills, George holds higher rights of audience and regularly appears as an advocate in Criminal Courts. He also acts for companies and individuals facing regulatory/compliance investigations by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). George has extensive knowledge in advising companies and individuals on issues concerning money laundering and compliance. George is a member of the International Bar Association, Law Society of England & Wales, Criminal Litigation Scheme (Accreditation), Association of Regulatory & Disciplinary Lawyers, and Solicitors’ Association of Higher Court Advocates. During his presentation entitled Cash Seizures, Asset Confiscation and Unexplained Wealth Orders, George will discuss  safeguards and how to avoid being in the “line of fire”. In an ever changing world where the reliance on digital technology is increasing, more businesses find themselves open to the dangers associated with fraud. Once in the crossroads of authorities, they run the risk of criminal exposure, resulting in the confiscation of assets and cash seizures. The presentation will also touch upon Unexplained Wealth Orders (UWOs) and their implications for businesses and individuals.

The Conference will be conducted in English. For more information on the event, please click here

On the sidelines of the Conference, participants will be offered the chance to network with like-minded individuals as well as the opportunity to boost their knowledge on issues revolving around fraud, so that they can further equip themselves with the means to combat it.
